Hospitals and other medical facilities in Sahana need metadata associated with them to describe their capabilities and current bed occupancy etc. Their is a draft international standard describing clinical facilities which Sahana should probably implement in the longer term if this standard is ratified. For the purposes of SA3 however I would suggest something like this as an initial proposal. Please feel free to comment with additions or deletions. Please remember that time is short and a full implementation may not be possible. I would suggest that any data schema is designed to be expandable in the longer term at the expense of being apparently comprehensive in the shourt term.

Proposed data schema

Name, GIS location, total number of beds, number of Intensive Care and High
Dependancy beds and something on capabilities but this is hard as it depends on what
granularity is thought necessary. Would suggest a definition file something
like this ( characters replaced by ' otherwise format on web is hidden)

The purpose of this schema is to distinguish for example between a level 1 trauma centre, a
specialist oncology hospital and a 'cottage' hospital (ie minimal
facilities). But one would not necessarily want to list all of the specialities that
were available as this would be unwieldy.
